Minimum wage increases 3.5%

 

This will apply from the first pay period starting on or after 1 July 2018.

 

The minimum wages for adults, juniors, trainees, and apprentices will all increase. Many allowances in awards will also increase. For employees who aren’t covered by an award or agreement, the new national minimum wage will be $719.20 per week or $18.93 per hour.

Please note if you’re covered by an award, the final rates of pay won’t be available until the Fair Work Commission issues final orders in the next few weeks.

Single Touch Payroll is a reporting change for employers.

 

From 1 July 2018, employers with 20 or more employees are required to report payments such as salaries and wages, pay as you go (PAYG) withholding and superannuation information from your payroll software each time you pay your employees.

 

Single Touch Payroll will be expanded to include employers with 19 or less employees from 1 July 2019. If you need help preparing your small business, please get in touch for a free quote.
